FAQ

What does this boiler & steam savings tool calculate?
It estimates annual savings from two common steam-plant measures: improving boiler efficiency and increasing condensate return. Outputs include fuel, water, treatment, CO₂ savings, and simple payback.
How is condensate return savings estimated?
The calculator uses a screening heat balance based on additional hot condensate returned (make-up avoided) and the temperature difference between condensate and make-up water. Results are intended for early-stage business cases.
What inputs most affect payback?
Fuel price, baseline fuel consumption, and achievable condensate return improvement are usually the biggest drivers. If you can, validate fuel consumption and condensate return with meter data or a short audit.
Is this suitable for detailed engineering design?
This is a Quick Mode screening estimator. For detailed design, you should model steam demand, flash steam, blowdown, deaerator operation, and site-specific losses.
